‘My roommate hasn’t been paying a dime': College student's roommate orders food using their money, then gets a full refund and doesn't pay them back

Discovering your roommate is cheating you out of money leads to a very certain kind of righteous fury. How dare they do something like that? You're living with the person, so there is no escaping these feelings. You see them on a day-to-day basis, and you know they won't pay you back.

One person took to r/mildlyinfuriating to describe a very frustrating discovery they had about their roommate. Firstly, they were both college students and had agreed to split the cost of take-out food because according to the poster (who we'll call OP), campus meals were gross. Plus, OP was pretty busy… apparently too busy to eat campus meals. One month prior to the situation that unfolded, OP's roommate revealed her family's financial struggles. OP assumed that she wouldn't be able to afford take-out food anymore, but they were surprised when their roommate was totally able to 'foot the bill'. It gets weirder. The roommate eventually admitted to a 'hack' that they had discovered when buying food… but it was at everybody's expense, including OP's.

Then, here is a story about a job candidate who was absolutely floored after their job offer was retracted by a hiring manager who told them of company budget cuts.
